You'll have to venture out of Playa del Carmen to do it. The Playa area does not have any back country so you need to go north to Cancun or Isla Blanca or head south to Ascension Bay.

Cozumel offers fly fishing opportunities all year long. The northern end of Cozumel has three lagoons that offer fantastic wade fishing and fishing from the boat. The area has bonefish, permit, tarpon, and snook and offer anglers grand slam fly fishing.

Fly Fishing Day Trip Ascension Bay From Playa del Carmen

Ascension Bay is located south of Playa del Carmen and Tulum and is a world famous bonefish destination. With no back country in Playa del Carmen this is the option you'll have to the south and maybe a little more convenient than the other options as this trip would include all transportation.

Just north of the Cancun Hotel Zone, Isla Blanca is a large area with grand slam opportunities. An endless variety of flats, mangroves, and small lagoons. Isla Blanca gives anglers. Tarpon and Snook are here all year long wth Bonefish and Permit as well in the Spring and Summer months.

Fly Fishing the Cancun From Playa del Carmen

Right in the Cancun Hotel Zone is Laguna Nichupte, a lagoon with Tarpon and Snook as well as some occasional Bonefish and Permit. This trip is a great option if you do not have time for a full day trip or have young kids with you. This trip is available for 4hr, 6hr, and 8hr trips.
